Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated more than 700 bags of rice to the National Mosque in Abuja as part of efforts to support Muslim communities during the holy month of Ramadan.
The donation, facilitated through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) under the Office of the First Lady, is intended to provide essential food relief to fasting Muslims and vulnerable residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including widows, orphans, and other less-privileged individuals facing economic hardships.
The rice was presented on behalf of the First Lady by Mallam Abubakar Sadiq, Chairman of the National Mosque Welfare Committee. Distribution took place at the mosque premises shortly after Zuhr prayers, directly benefiting those in need ahead of and during Ramadan.
Mallam Abubakar Sadiq highlighted the timeliness of the gesture, noting that many families are grappling with rising food costs, and the support would offer meaningful assistance during this sacred period.
Beneficiaries reportedly expressed gratitude for the First Lady's compassionate initiative, which aligns with broader aims to alleviate household burdens amid economic challenges.
This act of generosity forms part of ongoing welfare efforts by the Office of the First Lady to promote communal support and solidarity during religious observances.
