Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed his readiness to collaborate with members of the state House of Assembly for the benefit of the people.
Fubara made the remarks while congratulating Ukalikpe Napoleon and Loolo Bulabari Henrietta, the winners of the recent bye-elections in Ahoada East and Khana State constituencies.
The polls, conducted on Saturday, February 21, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), filled vacant seats in the House.
Both winners, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), saw Napoleon clinch Ahoada East State Constituency II, while Henrietta emerged victorious in Khana State Constituency II. Commending their victories,
Describing the wins as well-deserved, the governor urged the new lawmakers to work diligently to uphold the trust reposed in them.
He said, “It is the beauty of democracy. When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes,” he said.
“I look forward to working with them and their colleagues in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the progress of our state.”
Fubara also lauded the residents of Ahoada East and Khana for conducting themselves peacefully before, during, and after the elections, describing their orderly conduct as a demonstration of democratic maturity.
