The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed it has commenced a full investigation into the alleged sexual assault and r@pe of popular Nigerian TikToker Mirabel following a viral video where she recounted the harrowing incident.
According to a statement from the command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the survivor reported the matter after the alleged attack occurred on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in the Ogijo area of the state.
The case initially drew attention from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), which appealed for information to locate the victim after her emotional TikTok post went viral, sparking widespread outrage under the hashtag #StopR_pingWomen.
Upon confirmation that the incident took place in Ogun State outside Lagos jurisdiction the DSVA referred the matter to Ogun authorities for proper handling.
The Ogun Police Command directed the Divisional Police Officer of Ibafo Division to contact Mirabel immediately. She reported to the Ibafo Police Station, where initial facts were obtained.
Preliminary findings placed the assault within the Ogijo jurisdiction, prompting her transfer to Ogijo Police Station for documentation and continuation of investigative procedures.
Due to her vulnerable condition, the survivor received preliminary treatment at a hospital before being referred for extensive medical care and rehabilitation to aid her recovery.
DSP Babaseyi emphasized the command's commitment to the victim's safety and well-being, assuring the public that rigorous measures are underway to apprehend the perpetrator(s) and ensure justice is served.
The case has generated significant online discussion, with calls for stronger protections against sexual violence in Nigeria.
Mirabel's representatives or the victim herself have not issued further public statements as investigations proceed.
The Ogun State Police Command urged anyone with credible information to come forward while the probe continues. Further developments are expected as forensic and medical examinations are conducted.
