In a decisive early morning strike on February 22, troops from Sector 2 of Operation DESERT SANITY V successfully eliminated 15 terrorists and obliterated a key logistics base near Lamusheri Village, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Military intelligence sources revealed that the operation stemmed from weeks of meticulous surveillance, including satellite imagery and aerial reconnaissance platforms, which pinpointed the site as a major staging ground for terrorist attacks and a vital supply hub for insurgents.
As troops, supported by Civilian Joint Task Force members, advanced toward the target, they encountered heavy resistance from the terrorists.
Employing superior tactics, the security forces outmaneuvered the insurgents, blocked their escape paths, and engaged them in a fierce firefight.
The clash resulted in 15 terrorists confirmed killed, with several others believed to have fled wounded.
At the location, troops uncovered fortified defensive positions and systematically destroyed the group's essential life-support infrastructure.
Among the items destroyed were five tricycles and two vehicles reportedly used for transporting fighters and supplies both set ablaze along with their contents.
Security forces also recovered a stockpile of weapons, ammunition, two bandoliers, and camel pouches.
Two soldiers sustained gunshot injuries during the intense exchange but remain in stable condition and are receiving treatment. Authorities emphasized that the overall security environment in the area is currently calm, though unpredictable, while troop morale and readiness stay exceptionally high.
This operation underscores ongoing efforts under Operation DESERT SANITY V to degrade terrorist capabilities and disrupt their logistical networks in the northeast region.
