The suspects, arrested after an extensive investigation involving collaboration among security and investigative agencies, will appear before Justice Joyce Abdul-Malik at the Federal High Court in Abuja to face charges related to the killings.

This development was announced on Sunday in a statement from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

The statement described the upcoming arraignment as a step to deliver justice and send a firm message to those threatening national security, irrespective of their motives or disguises.

The Yelwata incident, widely known as the Yelwata massacre, occurred on the night of June 13 into June 14, 2025, when gunmen launched a coordinated assault on the farming community.

Reports from rights groups, local accounts, and media indicate that over 100 people, some estimates as high as 160 to 200 were killed, with thousands displaced amid widespread destruction of homes and property.

The Office of the Attorney General reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration's steadfast commitment to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians, as enshrined in the constitution, and assured that justice would be rigorously pursued in this case.
