FCT Poll: ADC Defeats APC to Win First Polling Unit in AMAC Chairmanship Race

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed an early victory over the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a polling unit in the ongoing Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.

At Polling Unit 076, Sani Abacha Estate, Wuse Zone 4 where ADC's Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship candidate, Dr. Moses Paul, cast his vote the results showed:

ADC: 7 votes

APC: 2 votes

Invalid: 1 vote

Out of the 10 ballots cast, ADC secured a clear majority in this low-turnout unit. The elections across the FCT's six area councils have been marked by widespread voter apathy and generally low participation.

Dr. Paul attributed the poor turnout in parts of AMAC to confusion and restrictions stemming from the FCT Minister's movement restriction directive, which he likened to a "state of emergency."

He noted that in his nearly 40 years of residence in the area, he had never witnessed such conditions.

Dr. Paul also alleged intimidation of ADC polling agents in locations such as Takum Shara and parts of Kabusa Ward (including Dogongada and Shereti).

He claimed some agents received threats of being maimed or killed, accusing these actions of aiming to suppress voters and tilt the process toward the ruling party.

Additionally, he condemned ongoing vote-buying in sections of the capital, describing it as criminal, while expressing confidence that the people's will would ultimately prevail despite the challenges.

He urged Nigerians to resist intimidation and demand accountable leadership. At his own polling unit, Dr. Paul commended the professionalism of INEC officials and the adherence to due process.

The broader election process has seen mixed reports, with some areas experiencing smooth operations and others facing logistical delays or security concerns.

Results from other polling units and wards in AMAC and across the FCT are still being collated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with full official announcements pending as voting and counting continue.
