The All Progressives Congress (APC) has deployed its top leadership to closely oversee today's Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.
APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, together with National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, is presently stationed at the party's National Situation Room located within the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
From the Situation Room, the duo is monitoring real-time developments across the six area councils, Abuja Municipal (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Abaji, and Kwali, where voting is underway for chairmanship and councillorship positions.
The high-level presence underscores the APC's keen interest in the outcome of the polls in the nation's capital and reflects the party's commitment to ensuring a smooth, transparent, and credible electoral process in the FCT.
Party officials have emphasized that the Situation Room serves as the central hub for receiving field reports, addressing any emerging issues, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders, including security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The FCT Area Council elections have attracted significant attention due to reports of candidate defections, withdrawals in some races, logistical hiccups in certain polling units, and heavy security deployment to maintain order.
As collation continues and results trickle in from various wards, the APC leadership's direct supervision signals expectations of strong performance for the ruling party in key constituencies.
Further updates on the elections are expected as the process advances toward conclusion.
