Senator Seriake Dickson, a member of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, has clarified that the amended Electoral Act now mandates the electronic transmission of results directly from polling units to ensure transparency and protect the integrity of elections.
According to the lawmaker, this requirement strengthens the electoral process by enabling real-time transmission of polling unit results, minimizing opportunities for alteration during collation and boosting public trust.
Senator Dickson highlighted that the change responds to longstanding demands for a more secure, technology-driven system and helps address concerns over result manipulation in Nigeria’s elections.
The statement comes as discussions continue on the full implementation of the updated provisions to uphold credible and transparent electoral outcomes.
