Sokoto Police Command Distributes ₦29.6 Million to Families of Fallen Officers

 


The Sokoto State Police Command has disbursed a total of ₦29,638,584.78 under the Nigeria Police Force’s Group Life Assurance Scheme to support families of officers who died or sustained serious injuries while on duty.


The cheques were presented to 10 beneficiaries on Tuesday during a ceremony held at the command headquarters. The presentation was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Umar Sokoto, who oversees Finance and Administration, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Musa, and in the presence of the command’s management team.


Umar Sokoto emphasized that the payment forms part of the Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their dependents. He encouraged the recipients to use the funds wisely to sustain their households and secure their future.


Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Hamimatu Ahmad — widow of one of the deceased officers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the police authorities for the timely financial intervention and support.


The initiative shows ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to honor the sacrifices of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and to provide meaningful relief to their grieving families.
