The Zamfara State Government has handed over 65 motorcycles to sanitation supervisors in Gusau metropolis to facilitate their daily duties and boost operational efficiency.
The distribution was officially flagged off in a ceremony where Governor Dauda Lawal, represented by his Deputy, Malam Mani Mallam Mummuni, emphasized the importance of the initiative in supporting the supervisors' work.
"The distribution of these motorcycles has become necessary to ease your daily sanitation tasks and motivate you to perform more effectively in keeping Gusau clean," the Deputy Governor said on behalf of Governor Lawal.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the motorcycles responsibly, warning that misuse or negligence would attract sanctions.
However, he added that they were free to engage in commercial activities, such as okada riding, outside official hours to supplement their income.
Governor Lawal reiterated his administration's priority on youth empowerment and job creation, noting that the government recently distributed 10 vehicles to youth leaders across the state.
He assured that additional empowerment programs would be rolled out for other youths in the near future.
The Deputy Governor also called on recipients to maintain the motorcycles with care and dignity.
In a related event during the ceremony, the Acting Governor flagged off the distribution of 750 vocational tools procured by Senator Ikra Aliyu Bilbis, representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District.
The items, which include motorcycles, sewing machines, and refrigerators, were shared among male and female youths in Gusau, Tsafe, Maru, and Bungudu Local Government Areas to promote self-reliance.
Commending Senator Bilbis for the initiative, the Acting Governor urged other elected representatives to follow suit by delivering impactful projects and quality representation to their constituents.
