Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended eight additional suspects linked to the December 24, 2025 suicide bombing at a mosque in Maiduguri's Gamboru Market, bringing renewed progress in the investigation.
The arrests come just three days after the capture of the alleged mastermind, Sheriff Umar, in the Borno State capital.
The attack claimed the lives of at least five worshippers and injured 35 others when a suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) inside the mosque during prayers.
In a statement, Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Sani Uba, disclosed that the latest arrests occurred during a targeted operation in the Yan Lemu area of Mubi South Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
A search of the suspects' residence yielded cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards, jewellery, and other personal items, all of which are now undergoing forensic analysis.
Captain Uba revealed that a suspect already in custody positively identified two of the principal arrestees as suppliers of materials used in fabricating the IED.
He added that other occupants of the residence have also been connected to the terror network.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as efforts continue to dismantle the group responsible for the attack.
