A devastating road accident in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State has left six people dead and nine others injured.The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on January 4 at the Shendam Road junction, when a trailer truck loaded with approximately 400 bags of unprocessed rice lost control and veered off the road.
The vehicle was traveling from Yelwa-Shendam to Kano State.The identified victims include Samaila Dahiru from Katsina State; Sanusi Ladan Yelwa from Toro Local Government Area in Bauchi State; Abubakar Sa’id from Dass Local Government Area in Bauchi State; and Zaradeen Makama from Birnin Kudu in Jigawa State.
Police confirmed that two additional fatalities remain unidentified at the time of this report.Nine survivors sustained injuries of varying severity.
Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer for Langtang North promptly deployed a team to the scene, securing the area.With assistance from Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel and members of the public, the injured were evacuated to General Hospital in Langtang North for urgent medical treatment.
The bodies of the identified deceased were handed over to their families for burial according to Islamic traditions.
