Armed bandits have abducted two police officers during a violent assault on Farin Ruwa village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The attack took place on January 4 at approximately 8:00 p.m. along the Farin Ruwa–Wasagu road, as gunmen entered the community through the Dansadau district.
Sources reported that a joint response team, comprising troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA, police personnel, members of the Civilian Protection Group, and local vigilantes rushed to the scene to protect residents but fell into an ambush set by the bandits.
In the ensuing clash, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and an Inspector, both attached to the Department of Operations (DOPS), were kidnapped. The assailants also seized their service rifles.
The officers' whereabouts remain unknown. An anti-kidnapping unit has been deployed to the area, with ongoing operations aimed at locating and rescuing the abducted personnel.
