Armed bandits stormed Farin Ruwa village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State on January 4, killing one police officer, abducting another along with ten villagers, and seizing multiple service rifles and ammunition.
Security sources revealed that the body of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samaila Sule was recovered at the attack site, alongside the remains of five villagers.
The bandits took Sule's AK-47 rifle and 30 rounds of live ammunition.Inspector Aliyu Ibrahim was kidnapped during the raid, with his fully loaded AK-47 rifle containing 30 rounds also carted away by the assailants.
The ten abducted villagers remain unaccounted for.Authorities are actively working to locate the missing police officer and civilians while efforts continue to recover the stolen weapons.
The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges posed by banditry in northwestern Nigeria.
