Shettima Arrives in Davos Switzerland, to Lead Nigeria at 56th World Economic Forum

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in the alpine town of Davos, Switzerland, to head Nigeria’s delegation at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled from January 19 to 23, 2026.

Shettima, who traveled from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential inauguration of Guinea’s President Mamadi Doumbouya was warmly received upon arrival by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and officials from the Nigerian mission in Switzerland.

This year’s WEF marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s global economic diplomacy with the official debut of Nigeria House Davos, the country’s first-ever dedicated sovereign pavilion on the prestigious Davos Promenade.

Established through a successful Public-Private Partnership (PPP) involving key federal ministries and the private sector, the facility will serve as a permanent hub for high-level ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, policy dialogues, bilateral meetings, and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum.

Vice President Shettima is expected to inaugurate and commission the Nigeria House during his visit.

The pavilion will showcase Nigeria’s investment opportunities, focusing on President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and efforts to re-engineer the economy.

Minister Oduwole highlighted that Nigeria will present four key playbooks emphasizing the solid minerals sector, climate-sustainable agriculture, creative industries, and digital sectors to attract global investors.

During the week, the Vice President will deliver Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to some of the world’s most influential political and business leaders. He will also participate in key plenary sessions addressing critical topics such as the responsible deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and biotechnology.

Shettima is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with heads of state, chief executives of multinational corporations, and leaders of international development finance institutions.

These engagements aim to deepen strategic partnerships, boost foreign direct investment, and advance Nigeria’s role in shaping a resilient and inclusive global future, all aligned with the Tinubu administration’s economic reform priorities.

The 56th WEF, themed around fostering dialogue on global challenges, technological innovation, and climate action, provides Nigeria with a strategic platform to project its reform-driven narrative and position itself as an attractive destination for investment and collaboration.
