Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi on Monday engaged in a private meeting with elder statesman and ex-governor of old Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo, at the latter's country home in Amechi, Nkanu West Local Government Area.
Obi arrived at Nwobodo's residence at approximately 1:55 pm, accompanied by former Ebonyi State Governor Sam Egwu, former Enugu State Governor Okwesilieze Nwodo, Senator Ben Ndi Obi, Senator Gilbert Nnaji, and other associates.
Sources indicate that the meeting may be connected to Obi's recent defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with the visit potentially aimed at securing the support of the influential South-East political figure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Obi, who has openly expressed his intention to contest the presidency again, believes the ADC provides a stronger platform for his ambition.
The gathering comes shortly after separate closed-door discussions involving Nwobodo with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia North) and Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, both centred on the political landscape of the South-East region in 2027.
Chief Nwobodo and his wife, Patricia, personally received Obi and his delegation.
