In a move to recognize dedication and excellence in public service, Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has presented brand new SUVs to three outstanding Government House staff members following a secret observation of their work ethic.
The governor, who took to his official X account to share the details, explained that he deliberately delayed his schedule one day to test staff punctuality and commitment.
He noted their consistent early arrivals, late departures, and refusal to cut corners, ensuring no one left early.
"I decided to surprise some of our hardworking Government House staff... I pretended to delay just to see who would run away early. Thankfully, nobody missed their blessing," Okpebholo posted.
He rewarded the three exemplary employees, identified in reports as Mary Salami and Sylvanus from the Protocol Department, and Mike Oshioshio from the ICT unit with the vehicles as a token of appreciation.
"I rewarded three outstanding staff with brand new SUVs because hard work must be seen and appreciated," the governor stated.
"When you serve Edo State with discipline, commitment and integrity, someone is watching. Yes, even the Governor."
The presentation took place at the Government House in Benin City on Friday, January 30, 2026, and was described as a motivational effort to encourage all workers to maintain high standards.
"This is my little way of saying thank you and encouraging everyone to keep giving their best. We are here to serve Edo people and excellence will always be rewarded," Okpebholo added.
The gesture aligns with his administration's emphasis on Practical Governance, motivating civil servants through visible recognition of integrity and diligence.
It has drawn praise online for promoting accountability and rewarding merit in the public sector.
