Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has issued a strong warning to individuals and groups supporting terrorists, bandits, insurgents, and other criminals, declaring that they will face the same consequences as the perpetrators.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day 2026 in Abuja, General Musa emphasized the Federal Government’s clear mandate for security agencies to act decisively against terrorism sponsors and collaborators.
He stated:“I call on all Nigerians to continue to support the Armed Forces and security agencies and work for peace. Those who are still supporting bandits, criminals, insurgents and terrorists should stop forthwith. As the saying goes, the friend of a thief is a thief. If we get to the battlefield and you are among them, whatever happens to them happens to you.”
The Minister urged law-abiding citizens to provide timely and necessary intelligence to security agencies to aid in restoring peace and stability across the country.
He reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare, morale, and operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces in their ongoing fight against insecurity.
The event served to honor fallen heroes, appreciate the sacrifices of serving personnel and their families, and encourage continued national support for the military’s efforts.
General Musa’s remarks come amid persistent security challenges in Nigeria, including banditry, insurgency, and terrorism in various regions.
No immediate reactions from affected groups or the public have been reported in connection with the statement.
