FCTA Workers Set to Shut Down Offices as Strike Commences Monday

Workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have resolved to commence an indefinite strike action starting Monday, effectively shutting down offices and halting operations across the territory.

The industrial action, declared by the organised labour unions in the FCTA, follows the failure of negotiations with management over several unresolved demands, including the full implementation of the new minimum wage, payment of outstanding allowances, promotion arrears, and other welfare-related issues.

Union leaders have warned that all FCTA offices, departments, and agencies, including those providing critical services will remain closed until the federal government and FCTA authorities address their grievances.

The strike is expected to significantly disrupt administrative activities in Abuja, affecting service delivery in areas such as health, education, transportation, urban planning, and revenue collection.

This development comes amid growing labour unrest across various federal agencies and parastatals in Nigeria, as workers continue to press for improved conditions in the face of rising living costs.

Further details on the specific demands and the outcome of previous talks are expected to emerge as the strike begins.
