Armed Men Kidnap Seven Fulani Herdsmen in Bauchi, Two Rescued by Joint Security Team

Seven Fulani nomadic pastoralists were abducted in the early hours of Saturday when armed men raided their camp near Garin Jaji Village in Akko Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

According to security sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the attack took place around 1:00 a.m. when a group of rifle-wielding assailants stormed the settlement situated between Garin Jaji and nearby border communities.

All seven victims, who are male, were identified as Sabon Anaruwa, Idrisa Anaruwa, Lauwali Baba, Dahiru Musa, Danhajiya Lawal, Ibrahim Lawan, and Chali Dan Hajiya.

A swift joint rescue operation was immediately launched, involving personnel from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, local hunters, and vigilante groups.

The coordinated effort led to the successful rescue of two of the abducted men Chali Dan Hajiya and Idrisa Anaruwa in a bush area bordering Garin Jaji and the expansive Yankari Game Reserve.

The remaining five victims were reportedly moved by the kidnappers across into the Futuk area within the Yankari Game Reserve.

Security authorities in Bauchi State have been fully briefed and are intensifying follow-up operations to locate and secure the release of the remaining hostages.

The incident is the latest in a series of kidnappings targeting rural communities and nomadic groups in parts of northern Nigeria, highlighting ongoing security challenges in remote and forested regions.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators and determine their motives.
