2027: Ex-Minister Nwajiuba Declares Presidential Ambition on ADC Platform

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Minister of State for Education and two-time member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has formally declared his intention to contest for the presidency of Nigeria on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued by his office on Monday, Nwajiuba emphasized that Nigeria’s mounting challenges demand leadership grounded in clear policies, strong negotiation skills, effective governance experience, and a robust grassroots political structure rather than mere rhetoric.

The seasoned politician, who was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989, highlighted his extensive background in public service.

His career spans roles in the legislature, the executive branch as Minister of State for Education, and key national institutions, including his tenure as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

Nwajiuba described his approach to leadership as “competence-first,” positioning experience, policy depth, and institutional knowledge at the heart of national governance.

His campaign is expected to prioritize major national issues, including comprehensive education reform, economic stabilization, and the restoration of public trust in government institutions.

“With his declaration, Nwajiuba joins a growing list of aspirants aiming to shape the national conversation ahead of the next general election, as debates around competence, experience, and inclusive governance continue to gain momentum,” the statement read.

Nwajiuba’s entry into the presidential race on the ADC platform is seen as a significant development, adding fresh dynamics to the evolving contest.
