Angry residents of communities in Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State have lynched and crucified a suspected bandit following a failed kidnapping operation in Yargeda village.
The incident occurred on the night of Friday, December 12, 2025, when armed bandits invaded Yargeda community and abducted three residents.
As the bandits attempted to escape with their victims through a nearby forest, passing through Rini village, they were intercepted by vigilant locals.
While most of the assailants managed to flee, one suspect was overpowered and captured.
The enraged residents reportedly tied up the suspect, lynched him, and subsequently hung his body on a water tank structure in the community as a grim warning.
Sources indicate that the three abducted victims were later rescued by troops of Operation Fansan Yanma, who also neutralised another bandit during a follow-up operation in the area.
The Zamfara State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
