Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members and local hunters, have successfully foiled a terrorist logistics movement, neutralizing 17 suspected JAS/ISWAP insurgents in a coordinated long-range ambush in Borno State.
Acting on credible intelligence about the movement of supplies by the terrorists, the joint team deployed to an interception point between Sojiri and Kayamla villages on the night of December 20.
At around 2:24 a.m. on December 21, the insurgents arrived on bicycles carrying logistics materials, as anticipated.
The troops, in concealed positions, engaged the group decisively, resulting in 17 terrorists neutralized and others fleeing with gunshot wounds.Recovered items included several bicycles, assorted food items, drugs and medical supplies, detergents, clothing materials, bicycle tyres, torch lights, various weapons of different calibres, and ammunition.
The ambush team withdrew safely to base by 4:20 a.m., with follow-up operations ongoing to further clear the area and restrict insurgent movements.
Military sources described the troops' morale as high and their fighting efficiency as strong, highlighting the success as evidence of effective intelligence-driven joint operations in degrading terrorist networks and disrupting their supply chains in the North-East.
