President Bola Tinubu on Saturday commended Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for his exceptional focus on people-centered projects in education, healthcare, and transportation, which are transforming lives in the state.
During a one-day working visit to Maiduguri as part of a three-state tour, the President commissioned several landmark projects, including the international wing and VIP extension of the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, a fleet of electric vehicles, intra-state buses, tricycles, and three modern mega schools, a primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary institution.
"I am commissioning these schools to the glory of God and for the continuous education of our children," President Tinubu declared during the event.In a cultural highlight, the President participated in the traditional Kanuri marriage ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno Governor Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and Hadiza Kam Salem.
Acting as the groom's father, Tinubu presented the traditional bride price in gold coins, while Governor Zulum represented the bride's side.
The ceremony, hosted by the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, took place at the Maiduguri Central Mosque.
The events drew attendance from several governors, including those of Katsina, Taraba, Yobe, Delta, Gombe, Adamawa, and Ogun states, alongside senators and federal ministers.
President Tinubu departed Maiduguri for Bauchi State in the afternoon to continue his tour.
