Anambra State Police Command has captured the prime suspect in the brutal abduction and murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, a serving member of the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The 26-year-old suspect, Ugochukwu Uzor, described by police as a notorious armed robbery kingpin, was arrested on December 8, 2025, in Iyowa Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area, during a coordinated operation by the elite Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives encountered heavy resistance but eventually overpowered the suspect after a fierce gun battle.
One locally-made Beretta pistol and eleven rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.Uzor, who has a large tattoo across his body bearing the chilling inscriptions “No Forgiveness” and “No Mercy”, reportedly confessed during interrogation to masterminding the abduction and subsequent killing of Hon. Justice Azuka on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024.
The lawmaker’s murder had sent shockwaves across Anambra State and triggered widespread public outrage.
Police say Uzor also admitted to leading multiple armed robbery and kidnap-for-ransom gangs that have terrorised Anambra and neighbouring states for years.
“The arrest of Ugochukwu Uzor marks a major breakthrough in our determined effort to rid Anambra of violent criminals,” SP Ikenga stated.
“His confession has opened new leads that will help us dismantle the remaining criminal networks he controlled.”
The Command commended the RRS operatives for their bravery and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
