Armed men have abducted Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema, parish priest of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rumi, Kaduna State.
The Catholic Diocese of Zaria confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday by Chancellor Isek Augustine.
Fr. Ezema was taken from his residence shortly before midnight on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.“We regret to officially announce the abduction of our priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema, in his residence at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Rumi on Tuesday 2 December 2025 around 11:30pm,” the statement read.
The diocese appealed to the public to pray for the priest’s “safe and quick release” and for all others currently held by kidnappers across the country.
The latest abduction adds to the growing wave of insecurity in northern Nigeria, where priests, seminarians and ordinary citizens continue to be targeted by criminal gangs.
