Former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that if elected as Nigerian President, he will split the cabinet into two equal parts consisting of male and female ministers.
Amaechi, who spoke at an event in Port Harcourt earlier this
week, said there would be 21 female and 21 male ministers.
According to him, the idea is to prove to the world that
good performance is not determined by one’s gender.
He further stated that youths will have the larger share of
his appointments.
Amaechi said, “Let me tell you what I’m going to do if I
become the president of Nigeria, and I’m going to contest.
“I will split the cabinet into two equal parts; there will
be 21 male and 21 female ministers. I just want to prove to the world that
gender is not the basis for action. There is going to be competition; let’s see
who is going to perform better, and I will tell Nigerians, look at the
performance of both A and B.
“In that appointment, 10 or 11 of the 21 ministers will go
to the youths; the remaining will go to any woman at the age of 40, 50, or 60.
The same will apply to the male.”
The former governor is aspiring to contest the election via
the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
