CDS Reaffirms Military's Commitment to Restoring Peace

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Olufemi Oluyede has reaffirmed the Nigerian Armed Forces' unwavering commitment to professionalism, discipline, and the restoration of lasting peace and security across the country.

Speaking during a special Christmas luncheon with troops of the 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA at Giginya Cantonment in Sokoto on December 26, 2025, General Oluyede commended the frontline personnel for their selfless service, courage, and significant contributions to stabilizing the North West region.

Accompanied by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the CDS praised the troops' efforts in Operation FANSAN YAMMA, noting that their operations have restored public confidence and enhanced security in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and neighboring states.

"As we celebrate this festive season, I urge you to remain alert, proactive, and disciplined, while strictly adhering to the rules of engagement and respecting human rights," General Oluyede said, warning that criminal elements often exploit holiday periods.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to the military and reassured troops that their welfare remains a top priority, including improvements in living conditions, healthcare, and family support.

The COAS echoed these sentiments, describing the luncheon as a tradition to honor troops' sacrifices and reaffirming the Nigerian Army's focus on building a professional, combat-ready force.
