Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, a prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Secretary to the Katsina State Government, has sharply criticized Governor Dikko Radda's recent tour of local government areas, labeling it a "political campaign jamboree" rather than genuine developmental oversight.
In an interview with journalists on December 22, 2025, Inuwa argued that while governors are entitled to inspect councils to assess progress and challenges, Radda's tour appeared timed to unofficially launch early campaigning ahead of future elections, months before such activities are appropriate.
He accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of having no substantial projects to commission during the visits, instead relying on what he described as staged "empowerment" distributions."
If you followed the governor around the state, you would realize there was virtually no tangible project to commission in any of the local governments," Inuwa said.
He claimed many items displayed such as equipment and materials were either rented or temporarily assembled for photo opportunities and later returned to owners.
Inuwa further alleged that cash handouts, including ₦50,000 supposedly given to women, were largely reclaimed after events, leaving recipients with only about ₦5,000.
He described the distributions as selective, primarily benefiting APC loyalists, and argued that public funds should serve all citizens regardless of political affiliation.
The ADC leader stressed that after two-and-a-half years in office, the government should prioritize lasting infrastructure like school renovations, teacher recruitment, hospital upgrades, and reliable water and electricity supply initiatives that would benefit entire communities rather than partisan groups.
In response, the Governor's Director General of Media, Maiwada Danmalam, defended the tour, stating it violated no constitutional provisions and that allegations of staged empowerment items were baseless and contradicted ground realities.
