Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has formally resumed duties at the party’s national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
Turaki’s return to the secretariat on Tuesday ends weeks of intense power tussle between his faction and the rival group led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, which is believed to enjoy the backing of former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The two factions had earlier laid claim to the control of the secretariat and separately announced dates for Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, deepening the crisis within the main opposition party.
Sources within the PDP say Turaki’s resumption is aimed at restoring calm, stabilising party operations, and repositioning the PDP ahead of critical national assignments and future elections.
