Ododo Presents ₦820.49bn 2026 Budget of Shared Prosperity

Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has presented an ₦820.49 billion draft budget for 2026 to the State Executive Council, marking a 35.7% increase or ₦215.96 billion over the revised ₦604.53 billion budget for 2025.

Dubbed the “Budget of Shared Prosperity: Driving Sustainable Growth for All,” the proposal prioritizes inclusive development, economic growth, and enhanced service delivery.

Finance Commissioner Asiwaju Asiru Idris outlined the fiscal breakdown: ₦470.01 billion in recurrent revenue and ₦350.48 billion in capital receipts.

Expenditure includes ₦360.67 billion for recurrent costs, covering personnel, overheads, subventions, and debt servicing and ₦459.82 billion for capital projects in infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and social welfare.

The plan emphasizes boosting Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), public-private partnerships, debt management, and ease of doing business.

It also addresses fuel subsidy removal impacts through social protection, rural development, SME support, and promotion of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Developed via stakeholder consultations, town halls, and MDA sessions, the budget upholds fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability to build on 2025 gains and deliver widespread prosperity, Idris affirmed.
