Nigeria Partners Qatar’s UDST to Modernize TVET

The Federal Ministry of Education has announced a strategic partnership with the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) to transform Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria.

During an official visit to UDST, Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, was received by the university’s President, Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, and senior officials.

The Minister toured the university’s advanced facilities and praised its focus on practical, industry-aligned training.

The collaboration will center on three key areas:

1.Faculty Exchange & Train-the-Trainer Programs

Nigerian instructors will receive specialized training in plumbing, welding, HVAC, electrical installation, and solar photovoltaic technology to upgrade teaching standards.

2. Quality Assurance & International Certification

UDST will help Nigeria align its TVET qualifications with global standards, making them recognized in North America, Europe, and beyond.

3. Entrepreneurship & Innovation Support

Through UDST’s incubation centers, Nigerian youth will gain skills and mentorship to start micro-enterprises, scalable businesses, and high-growth ventures.

Dr. Alausa described the partnership as a pivotal move to build a skilled, globally competitive workforce and drive Nigeria’s economic transformation through modernized vocational education.
