Five Police Officers K!lled, Two Injured in Fierce Gun Battle with Bandits in Bauchi


The Bauchi State Police Command is mourning the loss of five gallant officers who were k!lled in a brutal ambush by suspected bandits on Saturday, November 23, 2025, in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area.


The officers were part of a tactical team conducting an intelligence-led visibility patrol aimed at preventing farmer-herder clashes when they came under sudden and heavy gunfire from unidentified armed youths at about 11:30 a.m.


The fallen heroes have been identified as:


DSP Ahmad Muhammad (State Intelligence Department) 

ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF) 

Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF)

Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF)

Corporal Isah Muazu (Anti-Kidnapping Unit)

 

Two other officers – Inspectors Isah Musa and Yusuf Gambo, both of the State Intelligence Department, sustained gunshot injuries and are receiving treatment.According to ASP Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, the ambush targeted personnel from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), 10 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Bauchi, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and the State Intelligence Department.


Reinforcements were swiftly deployed, and the Divisional Police Officer in Darazo led the evacuation of both the injured and the deceased. 


The wounded officers were rushed to Darazo General Hospital, while the remains of the slain officers were deposited at the morgue.


The police confirmed that several attackers were neutralised during the fierce exchange of gunfire, with ongoing operations to hunt down those who fled.


Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment and paid tribute to the fallen officers.


“These brave men paid the supreme price in the line of duty,” CP Aliyu said.


“The task has not been an easy one, but we shall remain fierce, tireless, and relentless in protecting the lives and property of the people of Bauchi State.”


The command has called on residents to remain calm and continue providing credible information to security agencies, while vowing that the perpetrators of the attack will be brought to justice.
