Troops from 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE raided an illegal arms manufacturing facility in Heipang District, Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, following credible intelligence about an arms fabrication syndicate.
Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, announced in a statement on September 18 that one suspect was arrested, while others fled before the troops arrived.
A search of the facility uncovered twelve fabricated weapons, one fabricated pistol, nineteen PKT rounds, twelve cartridges, ten 7.62 mm (Special) rounds, ten 9 mm rounds, four 7.62 mm (NATO) rounds, one QJC round, one smoke grenade, two fragmental jackets, a Motorola handheld radio, a jack knife, and a bucket of assorted medicines.
The suspect and recovered items are in custody, with ongoing efforts to apprehend the escaped syndicate members.
The JTF urged the public to provide timely intelligence to aid in curbing illegal arms activities in the region.
