At a press briefing in Kano, the ICPC Chairman disclosed that the Commission tracked 1,440 constituency projects, with 767 in the North-West worth ₦112 billion and 673 in the North-East valued at ₦158 billion.
The initiative recovered ₦7.269 billion and $1.066 million in cash from the North-West, alongside ₦43.335 million from the North-East. Assets seized in the North-West included 14 buildings, 25 plots of land, and three farmlands.
The Chairman praised the media’s role in exposing poorly executed projects, stating, “Your vigilance ensures public resources reach their intended beneficiaries.”
The ICPC investigated 171 cases—117 in the North-West and 54 in the North-East—resulting in 16 court cases and eight convictions.
The project tracking aims to ensure proper implementation of government-funded initiatives in underserved communities. The Commission plans to extend the exercise to other regions, with increased collaboration from civil society and citizens.
