Makinde Visits Olubadan-Designate Ladoja to Finalize Coronation Plans

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to discuss preparations for the upcoming coronation ceremony, scheduled for Friday, September 26.

The visit, shared via a post on Makinde’s official X handle, shows the governor’s respect for the traditional institution and its unique succession system in Ibadan land.

During the visit, Makinde described Oba Ladoja as “his father” and highlighted the discussions centered on finalizing arrangements for the coronation.

“The visit gave us an opportunity to pay homage and discuss preparations for the coronation ceremony, which will be held soon,” Makinde wrote. “We are so proud of our traditional institution in Ibadanland and its unique succession system.”

The forthcoming coronation is a significant event for Ibadan, as Oba Ladoja, a respected elder statesman and former governor of Oyo State, prepares to ascend the throne as the Olubadan.

The ceremony is expected to draw dignitaries and community members to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ibadan land.

Makinde’s engagement with the Olubadan-designate reflects the state government’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions and ensuring a seamless transition in the Olubadan chieftaincy system.

The event is anticipated to strengthen the bond between the government and the traditional leadership, fostering unity and cultural pride in Oyo State.
