PHOTOS: Lagos’ Mid-Level Agro Food Hub Nears Completion, Says Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that the mid-level Agro Food Hub in Sangotedo, Eti-Osa, is over 90 percent complete, with finishing works now underway.

The governor shared the update during a site visit, posting details on his official X handle, emphasizing the project’s role in transforming food distribution across Lagos State.

Spanning 23,000 square meters, the Sangotedo hub will feature storage facilities, trading floors, and parking spaces, designed to enhance access to fresh food for residents in the Eti-Osa corridor.

“This hub is part of our broader plan to decentralize food distribution across Lagos, ensuring residents can access fresh produce more easily,” Sanwo-Olu stated in his post.

The Sangotedo project is one of several hubs under construction, with similar facilities in progress in Agege, Lagos Island, Oregun, and Ikorodu, and more planned for Epe and Badagry.

These hubs will connect to the main logistics hub in Ketu-Ereyun, forming the backbone of Lagos’ food distribution network.

The initiative aligns with the Lagos Agricultural Roadmap and the Produce for Lagos program, both aimed at bolstering food security in the state.

“By this time next year, I expect these hubs will significantly improve food access for our residents,” Sanwo-Olu added, underscoring the state’s commitment to sustainable food systems.

The governor’s announcement has sparked optimism among residents and stakeholders, who see the hubs as a critical step toward addressing food accessibility and supporting local farmers.

As Lagos continues to expand its agricultural infrastructure, the Sangotedo Agro Food Hub is poised to become a cornerstone of the state’s food security agenda.
