Troops of Operation Hadin Kai seized a large cache of ammunition hidden in a commercial vehicle at a checkpoint in Nafada, en route to Gombe from Maiduguri.
The driver, unaware of the contents, grew suspicious of a wrapped package he was tasked to deliver to Kaduna and alerted soldiers.
Inspection revealed a significant quantity of ammunition, allegedly linked to a soldier in Sector 2, Damaturu, Yobe State.
Authorities are investigating to apprehend the suspect and others involved. Security sources hailed the interception as a critical step in curbing arms flow fueling insecurity in Nigeria’s North-East and North-West.
