The Delta State Police Command has detained four officers filmed counting stacks of cash inside a patrol van, following a viral video that triggered public outrage.
The footage, widely shared on social media, showed the officers in a vehicle marked "Area Command Asaba," raising suspicions of extortion.
On August 26, 2025, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed via an X post that the officers were identified and arrested.
“The policemen in the embarrassing video have been apprehended. They faced the Commissioner of Police today. The two senior officers have been issued queries, while the two inspectors are detained and awaiting an orderly room trial,” Edafe stated.
The swift action underscores the Command’s response to public concerns, as it moves to investigate the incident and address allegations of misconduct.
