NECO to Launch Full Computer-Based Exam From November 2025

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has revealed plans to transition from traditional paper-pencil tests to a fully computer-based examination (CBE) system, starting with the November/December 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External.

This shift complies with the Federal Government’s July 2025 directive, requiring all national examinations, including those by WAEC and NECO, to adopt computer-based testing by 2026.

In a statement, NECO confirmed that it has finalized preparations for the change and issued detailed guidelines for CBE centres, specifying system requirements, examination hall standards, personnel qualifications, and security measures.

The November/December 2025 SSCE External will serve as a pilot phase, paving the way for a complete rollout across all NECO examinations in 2026.
