Honorable Jibrin Meets Tinubu at State House Amid Political Speculations

Honorable Abdulmumin Jibrin, a prominent member of the House of Representatives representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency and a key ally of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday.

The meeting has sparked widespread speculation about potential political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Jibrin, known for his longstanding ties to both Tinubu and Kwankwaso, addressed State House correspondents after the meeting, stating that the discussions centered on national issues critical to Nigeria’s unity and progress.

“I came to discuss matters of national interest with Mr. President. Given our long-standing relationship, this visit is not surprising,” Jibrin said, emphasizing the focus on stability and development.

He remained non-committal when pressed about rumors of a possible defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noting, “Everything is a possibility, but the priority is the country’s unity and stability.”

The meeting follows recent criticisms by Kwankwaso, who accused the Tinubu administration of neglecting northern development.

Jibrin downplayed any tensions, describing both leaders as “seasoned politicians committed to Nigeria’s prosperity.” He added, “Leadership is a matter of perspective. Every leader does their best, and differing views can deepen national discourse.”

The visit, confirmed by Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, via a video posted on X, comes at a time of heightened political maneuvering.

Jibrin’s cryptic remarks about future possibilities have fueled speculation about a potential shift in northern political dynamics.
