Tinubu Has Kept Promise to Provide Security for Nigerians, Says Bwala

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has declared that the Tinubu administration has fulfilled its commitment to enhancing security across Nigeria.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on July 30, 2025, Bwala asserted that insecurity has been significantly reduced, with remaining challenges attributed to global criminal tendencies rather than governance failures.

Bwala highlighted improvements in regions previously plagued by violence, stating, “Recently, we’ve had issues in Benue and Plateau—has it not gone down? The IPOB issue, unknown gunmen, and kidnappings that were rampant in 2022 and 2023 have decreased.”

He emphasized that the administration’s focus on security as a fundamental promise has yielded tangible results, enabling safer movement and activities across the country.

The presidential aide dismissed claims that ongoing issues reflect poorly on governance, arguing, “What we are seeing in Nigeria is criminal tendencies that exist in every part of the world and have no correlation with whether someone is governing well or not.”

He credited Tinubu’s policies for stabilizing regions like Kaduna, where markets in Birnin Gwari have reopened and communities in Chikun and Igabi are regaining vitality.

However, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) challenged Bwala’s claims, with spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi urging President Tinubu to visit affected areas and assess the situation firsthand.

“If this is the narrative the President hears, he’s living in a bubble. Insecurity is still ravaging parts of the country,” Abdullahi countered on the same programme, highlighting a disconnect between official claims and ground realities.

Bwala also touted economic progress, noting that increased revenue has placed governors in an “oil boom era,” with no state reporting salary payment issues since Tinubu took office.

He downplayed the threat of an opposition coalition forming ahead of the 2027 elections, describing it as “overblown” and lacking significant support from major political structures like the PDP.

As Tinubu’s government approaches the 2027 elections, public perception of its security and economic achievements will likely shape the political landscape.
