The All Progressives Congress (APC) is scheduled to hold its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting tomorrow, July 24, 2025, at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, where a new National Chairman is expected to be appointed to replace Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who resigned on June 27, 2025, citing health reasons.
The meeting, described as one of the party’s most politically charged gatherings since its formation, follows a series of strategic preparatory meetings, including a closed-door session of the National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday and consultations with party directors at the Presidential Villa to finalize the attendee list and agenda.
Expected attendees include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen, APC governors, and state chairmen, among others.
The NEC will focus on ratifying a new chairman, with acting chairman Ali Dalori leading discussions amid competing regional interests, particularly between the Northcentral and Northwest zones over the chairmanship position.
The meeting will also finalize the timetable for party congresses ahead of the national convention.
