Fisayo Soyombo, an investigative journalist, has heavily criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC), labeling it a refuge for displaced politicians.
In a recent social media post, Soyombo expressed his skepticism about the party's potential to bring about meaningful change in Nigeria.
Soyombo describes the ADC as a "vendetta actualization vehicle" led by "Internally Displaced Politicians (IDPs)" who are more interested in personal vendettas than genuine political reform. He likens the ADC to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he refers to as the "All Pilferers Congress," suggesting that both parties are driven by similar motivations.
Soyombo warns that if the ADC were to gain power, it would likely continue the same political patterns that have failed Nigeria in the past. He also draws parallels between a potential APC-ADC contest and the 2015 political landscape, where expectations for reform were not met.
He stated, “If the two options before the electorate in 2027 end up being ADC and the All Pilferers Congress (APC), then there can only be one winner, and that will never be the people.
“A contest between the old APC and the new APC will result in one winning APC, tantamount to a reenactment of 2015, which hugely questions, even rubbishes, our studentship of history.
“ADC has nothing to offer other than rotational motion: five steps forward and at least another five behind, at best.
“As long as it is peopled by the old guard, any coalition conceived, conceptualised and compressed into the ADC will be APC pro max should it get into power.
“The people – not politicians – will save Nigeria when they’re ready.”
