#EndSARS not against Northern Nigeria, says Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, former Kaduna lawmaker has countered allegations that the End SARS protest was a move against the North.

Some persons had opined that the End SARS movement was a plan targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and the northern region.

But Sani said the protest against SARS cannot be against the north because the defunct police unit never got the consent from the people of the north.

On his Twitter page, the former lawmaker wrote: “The history of the Infamy of SARS is never a reflection of the culture and traditions of the people of the north. The cruelty of the defunct police unit was never done with the consent of the people of the north.

“A protest against SARS can’t be a protest against the north.”

Meanwhile, a former Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Adamu had said that End SARS protest was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari and a move to destabilize Nigeria after the alleged initial attempt with labour strike failed.

According to him, some prominent Nigerians plotting against the government became manifest with the End SARS protests.

  1. The #EndSARS protest is only targeting ineptitude, corruption, insensitivity, impunity, economic failure, utter disregard to a bad constitution, operating Nigeria as a unitary state, lack of accountability, ASUU strike, disregard and abuse of the youth, gross abuse of human rights, insecurity in the state, kidnapping, killings and extra-judicial killings. Nigeria has seen more of these under @MBuhari than in other administration's in the last 50 years combined.@MBuhari does not have the capacity or willingness to do anything about these as he is pursuing a selfish narrow ambition. Bank account seizure, travel ban and abrogation of social media or making excuses will not prevent the second wave #EndSARS.
