He therefore asked those keen on joining the migrant exodus to desist as some Nigerians have already damaged the country’s reputation through their criminal acts in their host countries.
Buhari spoke to The Telegraph of London during his visit to England as one of the world’s leaders to take part in the international conference on the Syrian crisis and the ongoing war on terror..
“Some Nigerians claim is that life is too difficult back home, but they have also made it difficult for Europeans and Americans to accept them because of the number of Nigerians in prisons all over the world accused of drug trafficking or human trafficking,” he was quoted as saying.
He added:”I don’t think Nigerians have anybody to blame. They can remain at home, where their services are required to rebuild the country.”
The paper said that only around one in ten of the 13,000 asylum claims lodged by Nigerians in Britain in the last 15 years have been accepted.
He was of the view that some Nigerians needed to improve their behaviour and said: “We have an image problem abroad and we are on our way to salvage that.”
Buhari hoped Britain would not relent in assisting Nigeria to apprehend Nigerians being sought by government for stealing public funds.
“The legal process in this country is slow, sometimes a little too slow for my liking,” he said of the process of nabbing those being sought for corruption and trying them . “But we still respect the system because we know it is thorough and fair.”

How do you make the country great and a place to look up to? If we all run away like Andrew who will rebuild the Nigeria? If they steal and we all keep hailing them and at worst go and hide in a cool country. How will this help the country? The fools in National Assembly are unwilling to disclose what they earn or agree to tight their belts. What are those in diaspora doing about recklessness at home ?

My question to him is how many young graduate did he take as his ministers or special advisers? How many job has he created for young graduates? Or will he ask people in Borno State to remain in their state? Oil price has falling and he want to borrow $15 billion at the detriment of the country. Yet he is telling the world Nigeria is not as bad as the asylum seekers claimed. Did he bother to go see them and see of a possible solution to return home and help them out? Set up industries and give Nigeria stable electricity with 70% security and you see tremendous improvement in the country. Old man like you.

ReplyDelete95% Nigerians are saying life is difficult back home , this is a fact because the government cannot provide infrastructures . Top government officials prefers to steal the money and buy houses in abroad rather than to improve the life of the common citizen.
Let's our criticisms be constructive and desist from bad mouthing each other here especially our ppresident. Nigerians are corrupt, no doubt about that, let's work on reputation first and look way forward. God bless Nigeria.
