NDLEA’s report against me mischievous – Kashamu

The senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu, on Friday described as mischievous and misleading a report by the Public Relations Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, that he is still facing some extradition proceedings.

He said the purported extradition proceedings filed against him had been dismissed by the court on July 1, 2015.

Kashamu’s Media Adviser, Mr. Austin Oniyokor, said in a statement that Ofoyeju and his co-travellers should acquaint themselves with the basic facts and details of the case before making pronouncement that could further cast the agency as a lawless organisation before members of the public.

The statement read, “It is highly mischievous for anyone to claim that there is a pending appeal by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Justice to extradite Kashamu to the United States for him to face trial.

“While we appreciate the implied decision of the NDLEA to allow the rule of law prevail, we hope that its ex-Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Giade, who is now the Special Assistant to the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation on Narcotics, will not arm-twist the agency to resort to yet another extra-judicial move.

“The appeals in question are in relation to other judgements and orders that restrained them from taking any steps against Senator Kashamu on the basis of the same allegations that he had been exonerated from.

“As we have often said, based on the extradition treaty among Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States, two British courts heard extradition proceedings against Kashamu at the instance of the US authorities and found that it was a case of mistaken identity and released him.”

  1. No drug baron wanted in the US ever escapes judgement.Kashamu is a disgrace to Nigeria and a blight on the integrity of the Senate, well maybe not really because most of the Senators are people of questionable characters. If Kashamu likes it or not,one day he'll have to pay the penalty for lives ruined and deaths caused by his networks of hard drugs suppliers in US before escaping as a fugitive to Nigeria. It's a matter of time, the long arm of the law will catch up with you
