Pastor remanded over alleged rape of teenage girls

Pastor of a new generation church, Basil Princewill, was yesterday remanded at Kuje prisons by an Abuja High Court over alleged rape.

Princewill, who oversees the Mountain Movers Fire Ministries International, Nyanya, was alleged to have raped two 14-year-old members of his church under pretences of offering them prayers in July, 2011.

The pastor, according to charges filed by the FCT commissioner of police, allegedly procured abortion for one of the girls at the Fountain Health Clinic, Nyanya after telling doctors that he was her father.

After the leave to prefer the charges was granted by Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf, the pastor’s counsel Esther Uzoma applied for adjournment, arguing that the defence has not been served with the processes.

The judge adjourned the case to October 16 for the arraignment and ordered the remand of the pastor.
The pastor’s ordeal commenced early this year after families of alleged rape victims, who are also members of the church, petitioned the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

  1. It is a pity that some are still falling prey to this self proclaimed men of God. Buthe question is if these parents would have taken this steps if their children were not involved? We know that some of the church member hold very important positions that even attract monetary rewards in some of these churches. I know that even in this particular church some persons in such positions will fight to ensure that this case will not continue. They may even claim that the Pastor may have been framed because they know that ifthe pastor is jailed it is bad business for them. But this is a lesson to those who call allsorts of pastors and their wifes Daddy and Mummy. When this happens to you do not complain. Shugbo

  2. I don't know who made these desperate people "pastors". To be called a "Pastor of God", requires high intensity of spiritual energy that can resist temptations of all sorts including and not limited to the lust for money, women and self. When a man who has none of the needed spiritual endowments that can propel him towards sanctity and yet such is entrusted with the innocence of little girls, then expect nothing but acute defilement of these innocent souls. Such a man deserves to be banished from the land and stripped of his elements of "pastorship". For the lawyers who defend the guilty and dirty at heart, advise yourselves.

  3. Now u guys are talking, but u will still find some bad ppl denying, supporting the so called pastor and even blaming the little girl (victim). Its good when you see bad and condem it to put an end to it rather than denying the truth simply because they are sntimental..

This man will probably lose the case. You know why? Because he is not prominent. I am waiting for the "TOUCH NOT MY ANNOINTED" comment from his members. Men! People are so gullible.

  5. It is funny when some people start an argument and in the same breath warn those that would attempt to counter them. A pastor is a prominent position in society. You set yourself up as an epitome of what is good. You stand before God on behalf of those under your tutelage of leadership. The word means 'shepherd'. This man, whose case is still being decided, if found guilty, would certainly not fit into the garb of a pastor. He would be an impostor. If he is a real one, then he has fallen. he will deserve whatever decision the laws of the land decrees for him. This, however, does not make every pastor a criminal. When you seek after instant success and wealth, you'll find yourself ensconced in the arms of fraudsters. Let all commentators be wary of attacking genuine men of God, lest you receive a blow, not meant for you.

  6. don't judge so that you will not be judged. i don't know the pastor in person but any human being can fall, besides, i teach children in the church and i found out that some of them could be funny especially when you are alone with them.its is only by God's grace that you resist them.some of them are possessed and could be used to ruin your life if you were not careful. thank all
