Saharareporters Lied – The undoctored full video #OccupyNigeria New York Town Hall Meeting

Saharareporters Show of Shame:The undoctored full video clip
Statement Issued by Committee of Nigerians for Constructive Engagement, USA
Date: Friday, Jan 20, 2012
To whom it may concern
We are a group of Nigerian professionals in the USA that came together for the purpose of harnessing our talents and matching them with developmental opportunities in Nigeria.
We believe that the best way to move Nigeria forward is through constructive engagement. It was for this purpose that we participated in the recent town hall meeting in New York City, with the Minister of State 1 for Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Prof. Mrs Viola Onwuliri and Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe.
As you may have read, the online publisher of saharareporters, Mr Sowore Omoleye and a couple of his friends came to the meeting and executed a predetermined plan to deny all in attendance opportunity to add our voices to recent burning poilcy debates about Nigeria, particularly the subsidy removal and insecurity issues.
Diaspora Nigerians have for long been demanding closer participation in policy matters affecting all of us only to appear, by the disrespectful act of Mr Omoyele and Sahareporters, to shun or slap down an opportunity to engage. We are heartened that their attempt to shut the meeting down failed, thanks to the NYPD who intervened and removed them from the room.
After careful deliberation our group resolved to issue this statement condemning what we consider a reprehensible show of shame by Saharareporters and hereby disassociate ourselves from it.
We further disassociate ourselves and totally condemn the maliciously doctored video clip below posted on sahareporters website, supposedly of the meeting, showing the minister and her team seated during the national anthem, thus appearing unpatriotic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoXye_BxN98&feature=player_embedded#!
However, the undoctored full video clip below clearly shows otherwise-the minister and her team standing during the national anthem.

This is fraud not characteristic of Nigerians in the Diaspora. Fighting corruption with fraud doesn’t make sense. As professionals we believe in the superiority of our skills and intellect to accomplish our goal of moving Nigeria forward.
Although we are yet to finalize our position on the issues discussed at the meeting, we wish to commend the Minister and her team for exhibiting utmost maturity and calm in the face of provocation, as well as their patience in exhaustively addressing all questions posed by the audience. We also want to appeal to Prof. (Mrs) Viola Onwuliri and President Jonathan not to relent in their commendable effort of engaging Diaspora Nigerians.
While Sowore and Saharareporters are free to express themselves any way they deem fit, so do we. We believe in constructive engagement, and will continue to aggressively advocate that approach.

  3. MD's and PhD's of corruptions .... You mean you are going to keep your staff or can your boss keep you for 2 hours before a meeting ... Let be real men

  4. Your own video is the fake one. You deliberately refused the video the main event which was the fracas that happened when members of occupy Nigeria came in to make announcement. Shame on you. Though am not a supporter of Sahara reporters though. I go with their video this time.

  5. I wonder who these shameful people are who call themselves Nigerians, awon omo ale wo l'eleyi gan sef?
You come up criticising a video with an audio you call a video? Because as far as I'm concerned what you have posted here is an audio of the real event.
You dodge the fact that the Minister came late, yet you live in a country where things are done properly, unfortunately the excellent part of the culture there makes no sense to you.
You all have no pride and your self esteem is deficient if you can say that Jonathan and Onwuliri should continue what they're doing in Nigeria.
Why not return home and let's face it together instead of hiding in another man's country running away from the one that's yours.
Come back here and then after a month let's hear what you have to say.
If you cannot make sense, the most sensible thing to do is keep quiet.

If you find your name listed above please tell us refrain from passing jocular comments on burning national issues in the name of constructive dialogue. It would be dangerous to stoop so low as to reduce germane constitutional issues bordering on the survival of our nation to a mere charade fuelled by pecuniary inducement and grandiose delusions.
I am sure that as professionals in the diaspora many of you would not dare come back home to look for work as you would probably search for work till the end of the next decade as the economy of our beloved country has shrunk considerably yet our confused and misguided government executives go about squandering our hard earned Naira on their never ending wish list that does us no good.
Its the 21st century, somebody needs to tell Madam minister that she could have had that meeting using SKYPE, that she did not have to fly all the way to Europe and America just to go and rehash the same set of lies that we did not buy here in Nigeria, after all it is Nigerians that live or are present in Nigeria that buy fuel in Nigeria!!
In conclusion brothers and sisters in the diaspora please remember that we live here and we are the only ones who know where the shoe hurts, if you would not help build our nation just stay out of the fray and enjoy whatever benefits your new homes confer on you.

  13. This clip is truly the real show of shame. Rather than film people talking and showing action they focused on showing people that are standing doing nothing just to cover up. (Literary meaning-Action is taking place in Ikorodu and they are showing Mile 2)

This people should know that God will judge them and their generation. They are part of the people spoiling our country. I will appreciate if Sahara reporters can place this clip besides theirs so that Nigeria will know who to stone.

Shame on you and your sponsor. The fictitious and faceless people with MD,JD and PHD you guys paraded can not move us. You and them are destined for destruction.
