Yuguda lauds federal government's privatisation of PHCN

Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda, has praised the federal government's privatisation of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

Mr Yuguda announced his support when members of the committee on the privatisation of PHCN paid him a visit in Bauchi.

Represented by his deputy, Sagir Aminu Saleh, Mr Yuguda said that the decision taken by the federal government to sell PHCN to the public is a welcome development, as it is in conformity with the state government's decision to establish its own Independent Power Plant (IPP).

Mr Yuguda said the state government had already commenced the establishment of its power company "Yankari Power Company" which, he said, has been registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. According to him, the government has set up a committee to take stock of all assets and property it has procured and handed over to PHCN for effective management.
He explained that the committee has also taken stock of items procured by the 20 local government councils in the state which were also handed over to PHCN for optimal utilisation by the later.
Mr Yuguda disclosed that the report of the committee has been compiled and would be handed over to PHCN committee for such items to be transferred to Yankari Power Corporation for optimal utilisation.

The chairman of the committee, Abdullahi Mohammed had earlier told the governor that they were in the state to assess investment of PHCN to enable them report same to the federal government.
